Hello, folks. Glad to see this place is still going strong

I was wondering if anyone might tell me their favored pre-rebellion starfighters (let's say 15-5 ABY or so?) in whatever conception of star wars they're partial to and a little about them in terms of general role, firepower, special functions, and so forth (be ye warned, our gracious host might take the time to inform you of why your EU choices are in poor taste if you come on too strong that-a-way).

I'm considering doing a bit of gaming or writing some light fiction for my group and figured I'd perhaps let other fans of the franchise suggest ships they found interesting/obscure/underused instead of going with stuff I handpicked again. I figure hitting up the clever bunch who talk about structural frames and screen captures and functions of systems throughout the layers of the hull might garner more interesting answers.

However, if the request elicits little motivation on your part to reply, no big deal - people have lives and priorities for their leisure time and all that.

Well, my favourite has to be the V-19 Torrent. It had just the right amount of whacky for me, and didn't end up getting used enough.

V-Wing, because it looks awesome to me and it has folding wings, and the V-19 Torrent for the same reasons. I like folding wings.

Folding wings make sense for a shipboard fighter... at least, as much sense as a starfighter with wings can make.

Wings make perfect sense.
