There are eighteen capital scale ships on Colonial Chrome.

hello there. i was talking about capital ships like the stardistroyers and all the big ships from all the movies.

I see.
You have evidently not bothered to read the site.
You obviously have no conception of scale, or an appreciation of the difficulties involved in the process.

Am I missing something? Is there some better way I can get the message across so pus-brained little goitres like this don't come bothering me?

Suggestions welcome...

Hm... Like...

"As I written more than once, "real" capital ships would last many years, if you have a good team for it. More than one life for a single person.
Perhaps you make a deckplan for a Acclamator Star Destroyer (very little in comparison to the ISD) and sent it to the chromeyard."

And I think, it's a new space monkey, hm?

Tell them "Sorry, but I'm in the process of deck planning the Executor, so I don't have the time to do something as tiny as a Stardestroyer. And no, I am not going to post it when I'm done because there isn't enough [insert appropriate internet terminology here] to actually hold the completed plans."

This is meant to be taken as a token of critical respect, I hope it is viewed that way, sometimes it's difficult to convey thoughts without the non-verbal aspects.

Should I point out that I'm new here? Probably not. I would however like to comment on this thread. As a "gamer" I often myself in the midst of individuals with a wide range of real-life skills, this includes communication and comprehension skills. This is often relating to, but not always limited by, the age of the individual(s) I've encountered.

That said, I recently found your site after having signed up for a Stumble Upon account and while I found myself drawn to the images, I really had no clue what the hell this site was really about. "Are they selling something?" I wondered... "perhaps it's a fan site".... "D what, D who... what the hell does 'D stand for" I asked myself.

After having poked around a bit, I finally found a helpful page under the title of "philosophy" which at first scared me away but after having carefully sniffed it to be sure that it offered me no intellectual danger, decided to pry further.

So to answer your question...

How about an "about us" link leading to: http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/Pages/Philosophy.htm and with a clear definition of "deck plan" so that all of us "pus-brained little goitres" wont bother you. :D Unless of course you wish for your visitors to put in a little effort, as it turns out I came out without any injuries but some common navigational elements would have helped a lot and who knows, it may even reduce your bandwidth some. But at the very least, it might help to win more fans, instead of scaring them off.

I got put on the Stumble rotation?! Well, no wonder the site went AWOL...

To be honest I've always assumed that the normal visitor to the site come to it via other gaming sites, and as such they're aware of what the site is to begin with. People arriving at random are something I didn't anticipate, and whilst it's nice to have a lot of visitors, it has never been a priority to get more.

I do think I need to soup up the Misc section, its at best basic, but I should think the statement of purpose on the index page does sum up what the site is.

I'm also keen on scaring off people. Not normal people, but the whack-jobs and eejits, the sorts of people that end up as Space Monkeys. I prefer to err on the side of generally people being slightly nervous about approaching me than anyone feeling quite free to harrass and irritate me. I'd rather loose a few 'good' contacts if it means I have to deal with fewer 'bad' contacts.

I think the "About Us" page might be a good idea, but to be honest, I don't know many people who read those sort of things. And considering that some of these guys seem to be of the line of thought of "Well... that may be the case, but don't you know that I'm special?" mindset (and I'm thinking the Special is more along the lines of Special Ed from Crank Yankers) I doubt that they'd apply anything said along those lines.

Here's my suggestion. Put up the About Us page, like what's been mentioned, point it to the Philosophy, and then if anyone says anything REALLY stupid, just ignore them.

I'm in the process of re-organsing some of the pages, and I am going to replace the Rants buttons with an 'About' as suggested.

I'm also going to be ditching the Graveyard in favour of this page as the Graveyard has proven to be too tedious to maintain, and I promised myself I'd never get in a situation where it wasn't fun to do something site related.

The trouble with most of the Space Monkeys is that it's not usually the opening mail that's the problem - often they wait until two or three mails in before starting to go peculiar.[/url]

Could we get titles for those speeders? Not all of us recognize them by sight alone.

Without putting a LOT more work in, the best way to get the speeder names, if you're that keen, is to right click, that'll bring up the filename
