Has anyone ever seen any deckplans for the TIE Scout? I mean, it looks like a cockpit, and a cargo area... a refresher and a bed would be a tough fit? Or am I wrong in how it looks?
Anyone have any input on this?
I worked on the deckplan years ago, based on two working assumptions.
A: That the TIE window and sphere was the same one as in all other TIEs
B: That the CGI one seen in the CCG was the correct overall shape, so the section above the cockpit was round, rather than square.
I had it basically worked out, but then I decided that the CCG's
TIE/rc was a much better looking TIE recon variant, and the
standard scout ship was a perfectly good and SWsy Imperial craft.
Personally, I've ditched the TIE variant one entirely - it no longer exists in Chrome Canon, partly as the two existing ships fills the needs adequately, and partly because I just don't see a need for a real scout in the Imperial military.

you mean the recon tie? thats higly useful or do you mean the LSA-1(or 2) witch admrial did a plan bassed on the stats provided but based on a differnt picture and i agree for art to stat and scale problems the LSA is one of the worst
It was some serendipity - LSA1 stats were fine, and the scout craft was statted, so.

that is the LSA Lone scout and my guess is the artist took liberties that make little sense if you try to put what they wanted the design to have inside
Well, not as such, I would suspect that the artist drew a reasonable concept (the first image was a front elevation only) and this came into conflict with the author, who gave it capabilities that didn't marry the image. This happened a lot - there was very little in the way of interaction between the artists and the writers, and the final aggregation of words and images were generally overseen by the editor, with neither artists or the writers getting in a look.
WEG, like every RPG company, had writers in a single office, at WEG they used to effectively brainstorm pretty much everything together. Artists would submit works on spec, ie, "I have done this here picture, do you want to buy it?" or were commissioned for specific pieces. Most of the time that worked fine, WEG were fairly good at making reference material available to artists, but it also often failed. Artists are not prone, in my experience, to bother working out things based on stats.
One of the interesting ones was
GG6 when Nunis was commissioned to do a LOT of images of generic freighter things, including a ton of captains and characters. All that came in during the preproduction stage of writing, which is almost completely the wrong way round, usually art happens long after writing, but because they had these images, the writers crafted an entire campaign based on Nunis' work.
