Hello,

This will be my first post , I hope it turns out to be a good one as spending the rest of my life as a Space Monkey doesnt really sound fun.

I am very fond of a non cannon ship that fits nicely into the StarWars YT series of ships , the YT-600 . It is well thought out and has a great layout. It has two modest cargo holds , a living area thats really only a table , one restroom ( ugg ! ) and cramped bunks. I love this starship ( lol ).

I would love to see what the Admiral would make of this ship as his deckplan artwork is the best I can find online.

I am going to stop there before I end up as a Stellar Chimp.

As I mentioned in the email I sent in reply to your first request - I would need to know the source. I can find no evidence for the existence of this ship.

Also, you may want to bear in mind that the YT project is still underway and must be completed before any YT ships get done.

Was able to find some info on this ship (including one specifically dubbed "The Rebel Yell") on this website, but I couldn't cross-reference it with anything from Wookiee- or Wikipedia.

Here's the site, but be forewarned...it's in German:

http://www.daniworm.de/starwars/YT-600.htm

There's some pics towards the bottom of the entry including some rudimentary deckplans.

Hope that helps.

I'm going to cry foul on that one. The one reference to Rebel Yell (apparently one of the ships of its class) was said to be outfitted with a cloaking device and a torpedo launcher.

This is definitely not a ship built by your typical sources, and I'm hedging on fanon (and bad fanon) rather than canon.

I ran into this ship several years ago, and discarded it immediately. Whilst I rather like the illustration style, the creator has hybridised several design elements which perpetuate errors made by other, earlier artists on the YT-1300. Specifically, misidentifying the airlocks as escape pod housings and maintaining the incorrect height to length ratio that was started by Hasbro and then maintained in some other publications.

Whilst these elements could conceivably be fixed, the ship wouldn't look the same once it had been done, I'd have to re-position the airlocks so they would make sense, and restore the ship's length to around forty meters, which, for those paying attention, is eight times more massive. This is the beginnings of a problem as I would then have to base the structure on the YT frame. That frame, derived from the Falcon's structure, forms a complete and viable structural backbone, but it does not permit the very large section to be absent as seen on this design. This would, then, also have to go, further changing the lines, this time quite dramatically. That might not be a problem in the long run, especially as that is an almost stunning piece of poor design, (why would you put the cockpit in the only place on the ship with almost no view to the side and a limited view forwards?) but we would now be looking at a ship which no longer really resembles the original, and one would have to wonder if it were worth pursuing.

Finally, though, even if i were to recreate this design, it is very much a YT series and as such would have to wait for the YT project to come to fruition, which may be someway in the future as the project is awesome in scope.
