Hey, I was just wondering if it would be possible for you to redo the volker's exterior. I ask simply because the current one is small and not very detailed, and I rather like the interior.

Its not likely to come anytime soon. I'd be doing the Consular before the Volker in any case, and I'm in no urgency to start that nightmare.

Might you have a side elevation or maquette of this ship?? I like the interior and think the ship could be a nice addition to my asset list, but without a side view its nigh impossible to model.

Fraid not. Modeling it is far from impossible, however, you'll just need to use some imagination and common sense.

Well I guess I wouldnt go as far as to say impossible, poor choice of words on my part. But it will prove difficult, but so long as I have some artistic license, then I suppose I can give it a go. Few questions before I do. The top-down images you have make it look rather boxy Would I be correct in assuming this ship shares some design aspects with the Consular (oversized engines, blunt nose, etc)?? It appears to have a rather boxy ridge down its back... and the part where it flares out just forward of the engines... does that part slope down to the airlocks? or does it stay the same level as deck one and just not contain any habitable space? And lastly, as has become an afterthought as of late, what would the Landing Gear and Entry be like?

If you dont really have any thoughts on these aspects, thats perfectly fine... It just grants me that much more license.

Well, I just threw the basic shapes together in LightWave, and to be honest, there's enough data in the plan view to assemble pretty much the entire ship.

No, there's a very direct design lineage.

That's the engine mounting spar, it slips into the lower face of the fuselage below the big arse section. The spar is somewhere in the region of a meter in depth, and so cannot be habitable.

Well the landing gear is, like, a series of mechanical armatures that bear the weight of the vessel when it has landed. Unusually, these would be located on the underside of the ship.
Entry to the ship is via either one of the airlocks using a fairly short ladder or mobile stairwells, or via the ventral turbolift.

I have a pretty good idea of how the side elevation would look but I just wanted to make sure of some factors before I began modeling only to be stumped with half a model.

I thought so, it looks like its little sister.

Ok, I thought it was something of that nature. The depth of the spar is handy to know, thanks!

Well thats some good news, I would hate to try to land that ship and find out the landing gear is located on the top of the ship. :D

What I meant was where would the struts be located on the bottom?? How many of them would there be, and what they would resemble? I would venture to think they would be much like the R-10 Consular albiet smaller, would I be correct?

I was thinking the airlocks would be a method of entry... I was unaware the turbolift exited the ship for entry, that seems like a nice feature.

Thanks for the info

Out of sheer curiosity Admiral, do you happen to have the rpg stats for the CR-7300?

i don't, no. The ship was created by 'Volker Maiwald' and I have no idea if he ever had stats for it.
